Regulatory Context

Why DG Set Noise Compliance Is Mandatory

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has mandated noise emission limits for diesel generators under the Environment (Protection) Act. Non-compliance attracts notices, fines, and facility shutdown orders.

Regulatory Requirement

CPCB Noise Limits

Daytime noise limit: 75 dB(A) at 1m from the enclosure. Night-time limit: 70 dB(A). Applies to all DG sets above 5 kVA. Generators without compliant enclosures are in violation of the E(P) Act, 1986.

Unenclosed DG Set:
Typical noise level: 95–105 dB(A) at 1m
Engineering Approach

Insertion Loss Design

KBG enclosures are designed using double-skin panel construction with high-density mineral wool or rockwool infill. Panel NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient) is calculated to achieve the required insertion loss at each octave band frequency.

Core density options:
48 kg/m³ (standard) · 64 kg/m³ · 96 kg/m³ (high IL)
KBG Solution

Compliant in 15 Days

Submit DG set make, kVA rating, and acoustic brief. KBG designs and manufactures the enclosure with integrated AMCA-certified acoustic ventilation louvers, maintenance access doors, and fuel/exhaust pass-throughs. Delivered in 15 working days standard, 8 days expedited.

Post-installation noise reading:
Guaranteed ≤75 dB(A) at 1m (daytime limit)
