Highway Noise Barrier Manufacturer in India
Reflective, absorptive and transparent highway noise barriers — height and length set by a noise study, structure designed for the wind load.
KBG Group manufactures highway noise barriers in India — reflective, absorptive and transparent systems, with the posts, panels and fixings engineered as one structure. Barrier height and length come from a noise study of the corridor, not from a catalogue, because a barrier that is too short or stops too early protects nobody.
Manufactured in Mumbai and supplied across Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and pan-India — plus the GCC.
Highway noise barriers by application
A barrier works by blocking line of sight between the traffic and the receiver, so geometry decides the outcome. Height, length and continuity matter more than the material the panel is made from.
National highways
Long runs beside settlements, schools and hospitals along the alignment.
Elevated corridors
Parapet-mounted barriers where wind load and dead load both govern.
Residential frontage
Where a highway passes a housing society and a night-time limit applies.
Flyovers & ramps
Short, tall runs at the point of closest approach to a receiver.
Service roads
Lower barriers where the receiver is close and the traffic is slow.
Industrial boundaries
Site perimeter screening where plant and traffic noise combine.
Why specify KBG highway noise barriers
Three things decide whether a barrier performs: it has to break line of sight to the receiver, it has to run far enough past them that sound does not simply go around the end, and it has to be free of gaps — a continuous slot at the base or between panels will undo a good part of the insertion loss. We take those from a noise study of the corridor and size the barrier to them.
The panel then has to survive where it stands. Posts, panels and fixings are designed for the wind load to IS 875 (Part 3) for the site's basic wind speed and terrain, including the suction a passing vehicle adds on a narrow verge. Absorptive faces, reflective panels and transparent polycarbonate are all available, and are usually mixed along a single run.

Highway Noise Barrier Manufacturer in India — FAQs
Common questions from consultants, EPC contractors and procurement teams.
How tall does a highway noise barrier need to be?
Only a noise study of the corridor can answer that. The barrier has to break the line of sight between the traffic and the receiver, so the answer depends on the road level, the receiver's height — an upper floor is much harder than a ground floor — and the distance between them. Anyone quoting a height before seeing the geometry is guessing.
Do absorptive barriers perform better than reflective ones?
Not inherently, and for a single receiver behind the barrier the difference is often small. Absorptive faces matter where sound would otherwise reflect off the barrier to a receiver on the far side of the road, or where barriers face each other across a cutting and reflections build up. The choice should follow the geometry, not a general preference.
What standards apply to highway noise barriers in India?
Environmental limits come from the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000, which set ambient day and night limits by zone. Structural design follows IS 875 (Part 3) for wind load. For product performance, the European EN 1793 series gives the test methods for sound absorption and airborne sound insulation and EN 14388 the product specification — these are what a test report is usually written against. Project specifications issued by the authority sit on top of all of this and should be read as the governing document.
Does a gap at the bottom of the barrier matter?
Yes, more than most people expect. A continuous slot along the base is an uninterrupted path for sound and can undo a good part of the barrier's insertion loss, however good the panel is. The same applies to gaps between panels and at posts. Detailing the base and the joints is part of the design, not a site afterthought.
How do you handle wind load on a tall barrier?
It governs the design. The posts, the panel spans and the foundations are sized for the site's basic wind speed and terrain category to IS 875 (Part 3), and on a narrow verge the suction from passing vehicles is added. A barrier is a solid sail in an exposed location, so the structural case is usually what sets the post section and the foundation, not the acoustics.
