What makes KBG ventilation louvers the specification-grade choice for consultants, EPC contractors and procurement teams.
Aluminium Ventilation Louvers — FAQs
Selection guidance and common specification questions for consultants, contractors and procurement teams.
What free area do KBG ventilation louvers provide?
Free area depends on the blade model. Single-bank weather louvres typically deliver 45–55% free area, while deeper performance banks trade some free area for better water rejection. Because our performance range is lab-tested to BS EN 13030, the free area is published per model rather than estimated, so consultants can size openings accurately.
What does BS EN 13030 testing mean and which class do your louvers meet?
BS EN 13030 is the European standard that rates louvres for water rejection (Class A–D) and airflow/pressure performance under controlled rain and wind. Our performance louvers are tested at a NABL-accredited laboratory to Class B water penetration at defined face velocities, and the test certificate is available on request.
How do I choose between a weather louvre and an acoustic louvre?
A weather louvre prioritises water rejection and maximum free area. An acoustic louvre adds a lined splitter that attenuates noise — measured as insertion loss in dB across octave bands — at the cost of some free area and a higher pressure drop. Choose acoustic where plant-room or intake/exhaust noise must be controlled at the façade.
What blade depths and finishes are available?
We manufacture 50 mm, 75 mm and 100 mm blade systems; deeper blades improve both water rejection and acoustic performance. Finishes include mill, powder-coat (any RAL) and architectural PVDF for coastal and high-durability applications.
Are the louvers suitable for metro and coastal projects?
Yes. We supply EN 13030 and AMCA 500-L tested louvers for metro HVAC, and sand-trap and storm-resistant variants for coastal and desert environments. Marine-grade aluminium with PVDF coating is specified where corrosion resistance is critical.
