How does a sand-trap louver work?
It uses a two-stage inertial path: incoming air changes direction so heavier sand and dust particles drop out into a collection zone and fall away, while cleaner air continues to the intake — reducing the dust load on downstream filters and equipment.
Where are sand-trap louvers used?
Arid, desert and coastal sites, data centres, power stations and substations — anywhere airborne dust or sand would otherwise clog filters and damage HVAC or IT cooling equipment.
Do sand-trap louvers reduce airflow?
They add some pressure drop, so we size the louver to the design air volume to keep it within the fan's capability. Airflow and separation data are provided with the selection.
Can they also reject rain?
